Our new retirement home was trashed by Florence. We went through 3 contractors before our church recommended Drake Construction. There was way more work than contractors during this time, and Ron, unlike our other contractors, was open and truthful with us, which was a breath of fresh air. He told us how long it would take before he could do the work and was true to his word on everything. The work was top notch, and our home is way nicer now than when we bought it new in December 2016. We had some ideas on changes we were wanting from the original design, and Ron actually showed different ways to get exactly what we wanted at a fraction of the cost. If you want something done and done right, Ron Drake is the best. He truly understands the concept of staying within cost on schedule and providing outstanding performance. We can’t say enough about working with Ron and his team at Drake Construction! Great eye for design, style, & function. Spent hours with us looking at our lot, showing us some of his homes, listening to our desires, coming up with the perfect design, and then pointing out some changes he would make off the top of his head to make it even better. Great communicator!! We live in NYS and couldn’t be there for breaking ground and much of the build, but Ron was great about sending pictures, video, & texts. He always responded quickly to texts, emails, and calls. Our NC neighbors couldn’t believe how quickly the house went up and how hardworking his crew was. Ron & his crew were almost immediately responsive to design requests and changes/ideas we had. When we went down for our first walk through, our requests for changes of doors/windows/steps were already in progress the next day. Ron is a true craftsman whose work is top notch! We could go on and on but would only be echoing all the other positive comments here. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ron for a new build or a remodel and would certainly use him again!
As a former residential construction manager and builder, I was first impressed with Ron’s attention to the details behind the drywall, the bones of the house. As the construction process moved along, his attention to the more obvious details, such as the trim, paint, cabinetry, etc., continued to shine. Even the drywall, trim, and paint in the garage match the quality of work in the rest of the house. Now, that is attention to detail! I’m not saying that there weren’t challenges. But it is not that there won’t be problems, it is how one confronts and solves them. Ron met each issue head on and worked toward solutions in a professional and caring manner. I will be forever grateful to Drake Construction. After Hurricane Florence hit North Carolina, severely damaging our retirement home, we needed help. Ron Drake and his team were there for us. The cleanup was enormous, but Drake Construction hit the ground running. They patched the roof in several places, removed the disastrous mess of walls, ceilings, fans, insulation, and other debris that fell on the wood floors throughout the house. In addition, Team Drake removed what was left of the kitchen, bedroom, and sitting room and remediated the mold and mildew that covered multiple areas.
After nearly a full week of clean up, the real work began. Ron created a beautiful design for the kitchen, a creative lighting plan, installed a new roof, and turned our retirement house into a gorgeous home.

Ron Drake was fantastic to work with as he built our house on Oak Island, NC. We came to Oak Island and met with Ron a few times; however, we mostly worked with Ron through text and email. We used Drake Construction for the tear down of our old family beach house and the new construction of our beach house and everything in between. I’m sure this was not the easiest job for them to do as our old house still had the original asbestos siding on it (when I say old, I mean it was old), and they dealt with the entire remediation process. Then, there was Hurricane Isaias and everything that brought along with it. During this whole time Ron was so professional and helpful, I could not have asked for a better experience. Mind you, this was all done while we lived out of town, 3 1/2 hours away. To say we are surprised and so pleased with how easy this was is an understatement. Ron and his crew are so easy to work with. He was always just a text/phone call away. The quality of work is outstanding.
